In February 2007 I joined the women’s running group JeansMarines and on October 28, 2007 I completed my first marathon! Finishing all 26.2 miles (42K) of the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington, DC was an incredible experience! Congratulations to ALL my running friends who did the distance, especially my running partner Hardish and my husband Richard (who finished 2 hours ahead of us!)
Thanks to my coaches, friends and family for your advice and support. Cheers to Kathryn Switzer, John Bingham and Runners World who also provided extra inspiration. My summer clinic at the RunningRoom helped me build my speed and endurance in 2008.
Over the past 3 seasons, I finished 11 races and earned 9 beautiful medals:
-Harry’s Spring Runoff 5K (April 2007)
-Sporting Life 10K (May 2007)
-HBC Run for Canada 10K (July 1 2007 & 2008)
-A Midsummer Night’s Run 15K (August 16, 2008)
-Nike+ Human Race 10K (August 31, 2008)
-Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Half-Marathon 21K (September 2007 & 2008)
-Marine Corps Marathon 42K (October 28, 2007)
-Big Sur Half Marathon on Monterey Bay 21K (November 9, 2008) - my fastest mile ever!
-Sporting Life 10K (May 2009) - my only race in ’09 (looking forward to running again in my new orthotics)
I LOVE nike plus because Lance Armstrong and Paula Radcliffe come onto my iPod and tell me whenever I break personal records. Totally inspiring!
I dream about doing these incredible races one day:
Chicago | Dublin | Médoc | Ottawa | Paris | Rome | Honolulu | New York | Nike Women’s Marathon | Big Sur |
